    What is PLA?

    PLA, or polylactic acid, is a biodegradable thermoplastic polymer made from renewable resources, typically corn sugar, beetroot or sugarcane. It is commonly used in products such as disposable cutlery, food packaging and 3D printing. PLA is valued for its lower environmental impact compared to fossil-based plastics, as it can break down under industrial composting conditions. In landscaping applications, PLA is considered an intermediate solution between biodegradable mulches and synthetic ground covers.
