Hy’Green is the first hybrid grass reinforcement system, ideally suited to areas subject to intensive use. Hy’Green promotes the development of the root network of young grass shoots, providing physical protection and optimal drainage.
Description:
Plantco Group, through its Green Avenue brand, has developed the first hybrid grass reinforcement system for ornamental applications. This major innovation is ideally suited to areas exposed to intensive use and erosion. With the Hy’Green hybrid grass system, we aim to provide an effective solution for reinforcing natural turf and controlling erosion.
Our Hy’Green solution – 25 mm pile height – features a patented honeycomb backing that allows perfect integration with natural turf and becomes completely concealed once the grass has established. Hy’Green promotes root development in young grass shoots by acting as a genuine reinforcement layer, providing physical protection and optimal drainage.
The result of many years of research and development, Hy’Green offers the ideal flexibility for natural turf and adapts to a wide range of applications. The hybrid grass system is an ideal solution for ornamental lawns and can also be used to repair sports surfaces. Hy’Green is a cost-effective solution that reduces natural turf maintenance requirements whilst reinforcing the lawn root system through the integration of synthetic fibres.
There are two installation methods for the Hy’Green hybrid grass system.
The Hy’Green hybrid grass system is rolled out directly over existing turf. Mow the lawn to approximately 20 mm before rolling out Hy’Green and securing it using Plantcosol biodegradable staples. This method allows immediate pedestrian access after installation. The natural grass will grow through the mesh and completely cover the Hy’Green system within 6 to 8 weeks.
The second method involves installing the Hy’Green hybrid grass system immediately after preparing and sowing the natural grass seed. In this case, foot traffic should be avoided for 1 to 2 months depending on establishment conditions. The natural grass will grow through the Hy’Green mesh, increasing turf density and strengthening the root system.
The Hy’Green hybrid system is maintained in the same way as a natural lawn. Improved surface quality and more uniform grass coverage make maintenance easier, particularly when using robotic lawn mowers. Once the grass has reached a height of 80–100 mm, the area can be mown. The mowing height must not be lower than 25 mm to avoid damaging the Hy’Green system. It is recommended to brush the hybrid grass once a year using a rotary brush to keep the fibres upright.
